BMW Over 6 Years, Subscription AS

BMW Group Korea’s first subscription vehicle management program in Korea in May was evaluated by the industry that it is stably establishing itself in the market about two months after the service was launched. This program is “BMW Service Care Plus” created by BMW for customers who have been shipping for more than six years since their vehicle consumables management guarantee period (BSI) expired.

According to an industry on the 27th, BMW Service Care Plus is receiving positive responses from customers in terms of “cost-effectiveness.” When repairing an imported car that has passed the warranty period, it is usually left to an external repair company with relatively low repair costs. However, the program has reduced the difference in repair costs, increasing the number of long-term customers visiting BMW’s official service center.

An official from BMW Korea said, “It is a service to provide BMW’s differentiated customer experience to customers who have been suffering from expensive repair costs.” According to data from the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association (KAIDA), about 485,000 BMW cars were sold in Korea until last year. More than 208,000 vehicles in their 6th year or older whose BSI has expired.

BMW Service Care Plus consists of two types: Standard and Premium. Depending on the type of membership, various consumables such as engine oil and oil filter sets, brake fluid, micro filter, and brake set are guaranteed to be replaced and repaired. BMW Korea explained that the actual cost burden of subscribers will be lowered as additional repair cost discounts and service coupons will be provided.

If you add the “Powertrain warranty” option to the basic membership, you can also be guaranteed up to 10 million won in repair costs related to engines and transmissions within the guaranteed range. However, this option can only be added to vehicles 6 to 8 years old after shipment and vehicles with a mileage of 180,000 km or less. Pure electric vehicles, high-performance brands ‘M Series’ and commercial vehicles are not eligible for subscription.

BMW Service Care Plus is a mobile application (app) that allows customers to sign up for programs, book maintenance, and pay. A ‘Pickup and Delivery Service’ that allows you to receive vehicle maintenance without visiting the service center in person is also available. Reflecting the increasing demand for non-face-to-face services, digital technology was applied to the entire service process.

The price is 149,000 won for standard membership and 949,000 won for premium membership based on BMW 5 series models. Powertrain warranty, an optional item, is 569,000 won for vehicles six years old after shipment.

“This release of BMW Service Care Plus will allow all customers to experience the highest level of after-sales service (AS) in the period of owning BMW vehicles,” said Jeong Jeong-cheon, head of BMW Korea. “BMW Korea plans to lead the domestic auto market by introducing various programs that provide practical benefits to customers.”
